The Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems is looking in its Tübingen branch for a Research Assistant (HiWi) for the Perceiving Systems Department. Title: Aerial Outdoor Motion Capture (AirCap).
Within the scope of the Max Planck grassroots project MAVOCAP/AirCap, there are a few open student assistant (HiWi) positions as well as the opportunity for doing your master thesis. If you like making robots (specially, aerial robots), have an interest in computer vision/machine learning, and enjoy programming, this position will be suitable for you. Within Aircap, there are several ongoing/planned sub-projects, e.g.:
1. Tracked object-driven formation control of Micro Aerial Vehicles (MAVs)
1. Vision-based autonomous control for vertical takeoff of MAVs
2. Vision-based teammate detection and tracking in a MAV swarm
3. Vision-based anomalous behavior identification of teammate MAVs
4. Learning in simulation for cooperative MAV behaviors
In general, the position seeks students with background in Electrical or Computer engineering but is not limited to these areas. You should be available to work 40 hours per month or more.
The HiWi responsibilities include
- day-to-day upkeep of robot hardware and software repositories and
- directly collaborating with one of the team members on an ongoing sub-project within AirCap.
Master theses topics may be arranged after discussion with the project leader on a case-to-case basis, but will remain within the scope of the project AirCap.
Students without a Bachelor’s degree will earn 9.90 Euros per hour. Master students holding a Bachelor’s degree will be paid 11.52 Euros per hour. The positions will be open until filled. The duration of the contract is for six months with the possibility of an extension.
