Microfluidics for Synthetic Biology

The major aim of our interdisciplinary research is bridging the gap between the development of droplet-based microfluidic technology and its application in fundamental biological and biomedical research. Specifically, we explore the capacities of this technology in the following topics: 1) Bottom-up assembly of synthetic cells and 2) mimicry of the immune system cellular environment for adoptive T cell therapy, with the great goal of programing T cells to combat diseases like cancer.
